Welcome to our learning community where over 300 students and more than 40 staff members learn from one another on a daily basis.  My name is Julianne Taylor and I am the instructional leader and principal at East Elementary.  My office is located just inside the front entry doors and to the right.

I am delighted to have been working for Ankeny Community Schools for over 10 years. Yes, 10 years and I love it! My educational experiences have included teaching reading for 3 years and 6 years as a kindergarten teacher with Central Lyon Community Schools.  Further, I served as a professional school counselor for 10 years with Ankeny prior to becoming an elementary principal at East Elementary.  I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education in 1990. In 2000, I completed my Master of Science Degree in Education.  I consider myself to be a lifelong learner and enjoy coursework which enhances my ability to be an effective instructional leader.   

Beyond my professional responsibilities in Ankeny, I am an adjunct professor for both Buena Vista University and Iowa State University. The opportunity to teach in higher education truly allows me to experience the best of both worlds. These experiences provide the opportunity to teach and learn with many individuals who will touch the lives of children across the state. 

I absolutely love working with people and find great delight in teaching and learning from children and adults each and every day. It is an incredible opportunity! My husband, Charlie, and I were married April 30, 2011.  We enjoy spending time visiting museums, kayaking, reading, going on walks, and enjoying time with our families.  Truly, life is a wonderful adventure for us!  You never know where life's journey will take you. So, enjoy a beautiful day!
